Lucia Barbato and Katy Carpenter served as volunteers in the URISA GISCorps in Stone County, Mississippi. At the time, Lucia was a senior research associate at Texas Tech and Katy was a GIS Analyst for the City of Fort Collins. Together, they were stationed at the train depot in Wiggins, Mississippi - a small town located about 80 miles northeast of New Orleans. Their primary job was to provide GIS services (mapping) in support of the disaster relief effort.
